TRA (Trade Recognition Australia)
✔️ TRA is the designated authority for skills assessment of trade occupations under Australia’s skilled migration program.
✔️ It operates under the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and ensures overseas qualifications and experience meet Australian standards.
✔️ TRA assesses more than 150 trade occupations, including electricians, chefs, motor mechanics, carpenters, and hairdressers.
✔️ A positive TRA skills assessment is required for General Skilled Migration (GSM) visas, employer-sponsored visas, and state nomination.

✔️ Provisional Skills Assessment (PSA) – for international students who completed a trade qualification in Australia and are applying for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).
✔️ Job Ready Program (JRP) – for graduates with an Australian qualification, seeking permanent migration. This program includes employment verification, a workplace assessment, and a final assessment.
✔️ Migration Skills Assessment (MSA) – for applicants who gained trade skills overseas and are applying for permanent skilled visas.
✔️ Offshore Skills Assessment (OSAP) – mandatory for certain licensed or high-risk occupations if applying from outside Australia (e.g., licensed electricians, plumbers, diesel mechanics).
✔️ Trades Recognition Service (TRS) – for people with Australian qualifications but no apprenticeship, wanting recognition for employment purposes only (not for migration).
